1.Product Introduction
A Rotary Drum Dryer for sludge is a robust thermal drying system designed to handle highly sticky, viscous municipal and industrial waste sludge. Raw sludge typically has an extremely high water content (60%–80%) and passes through a highly cohesive "sticky phase" when heated. This dryer is engineered with unique internal shredding, agitation, and anti-sticking mechanisms to reduce moisture content to under 10%–15%, achieving mass reduction and sanitization.
2.Application
Municipal Wastewater Treatment: Drying activated sewage sludge to reduce volume, lowering disposal and transportation costs.
Industrial Sludge Management: Processing hazardous or non-hazardous sludge from chemical, textile, paper, and pharmaceutical plants.
Sludge-to-Energy (Fuel): Converting dried organic sludge into high-calorific fuel pellets for co-firing in cement kilns or power plants.
Fertilizer & Soil Conditioner: Turning clean, sterilized biological sludge into nutrient-rich organic fertilizer bases.
3.Working Principle
The dryer operates on a continuous, tightly sealed heat exchange mechanism:
Feeding & Sticky-Phase Breaking: Wet sludge is fed into the rotating drum. Because sludge becomes extremely sticky as it begins to dry, a back-mixing system (mixing dried sludge with wet sludge) or a specialized feeding disperser is used at the inlet to break up the material.
Anti-Sticking & Fragmentation: Inside the drum, a combination of lifting flights, crushing paddles, and self-cleaning chain systems continuously break, shred, and shower the sludge. This prevents the sludge from sticking to the drum walls or forming large, wet-core balls, ensuring uniform contact with the hot drying gases for rapid evaporation.
Discharge & Odor Treatment: The dried, granular sludge is discharged at the lower end. To handle environmental and safety hazards, the exhaust system utilizes a cyclone separator, baghouse filter, and an odor-treatment scrubber (often paired with condensation or thermal oxidation systems) to safely trap dust and neutralize harmful gases before venting.
