The Teledyne oxygen sensor is a trace oxygen fuel cell, which is designed and manufactured by TAI Company. It is a sealed and disposable electrochemical sensor.
The reaction components of a microfuel cell include: a cathode, an anode, and a water-soluble KOH electrolyte soaked in them, with a concentration of 15%. The battery converts the energy of chemical reactions into the current of the external electronic circuit. Its principle is similar to that of a battery. However, there is a significant difference in the working principle between micro-fuel cells and storage batteries: In storage batteries, all the reactants are within the battery. In a microfuel cell, one of the reactants (oxygen) comes from outside the device, that is, a sample gas that is continuously analyzed. Therefore, it can be said that the micro-fuel cell is a hybrid of a storage battery and a true fuel cell. In a true fuel cell, all the reactants are stored outside the device.
