Product Description:

The general degradable bag is made of polyethylene and starch, but this degradable plastic can only degrade large pieces of plastic into smaller pieces of plastic. The composition of plastic molecules has not completely disappeared, so its degradation is Limited. At present, a new degradable plastic has been researched in China. Its composition is synthesized by polyvinyl alcohol plus starch and photosensitizer. Polyvinyl alcohol is inherently easier to degrade than polyethylene. Adding photosensitizer can accelerate the plastic by absorbing sunlight.  Degradation, starch can promote the rate of plastic biodegradation in the soil. Therefore, this new type of degradable plastic is easier to degrade than the former, and after its degradation, the plastic components are decomposed into simple molecular structures such as carbon and water, which is more environmentally friendly.

Life cycle of level ground trading's compostable packaging bag:

1. Remains of the package in composting conditions after 3 months,

2. Remains of the package in composting conditions after 6 months,

3. Remains of the package in composting conditions after 9 months.

Compostable vs. Biodegradable?

Biodegradable: it is misleading to merely claim biodegradability without any standard specification.

If a material or product is advertised to be biodegradable, further information about the timeframe, the level of biodegradation, and the required surrounding conditions should be provided, too.

Compostable: if a product is specified to be compostable, the claim is not only unambiguous(i.e. to be treaded in an industrial compost plant or home composting bins), but there is another big benefits: it differentiates itself from products marketed to be 'oxo-biodegradable' or similar claim. Products marketed as oxo-biodegradable do not fulfil the requirements of EN 13432 and other standard on industrial compostability, and are therefore not certified as compostable.
