The 1756-L7SP controller module from Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation is a member of the GuardLogix product line in the Allen-Bradley ControlLogix series. The 1756-L7SP controller module is a safety controller module rather than a standard controller module, which means that it will increase the safety level of the industrial system that it is installed in. It supports 500 controller connections and it has a USB port built into it. The 1756-L7SP controller module’s non-volatile memory is stored in an SD or Secure Digital card. This module is designed for a variety of standard industrial environments, but it is not made to be used in extreme environments, and attempting to use it in extreme environments may damage it or cause it to malfunction.
The Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation 1756-L7SP GuardLogix controller module acts as a safety partner device in an industrial GuardLogix system. Together, the 1756-L7SP safety partner module and the main controller module create the mechanical partnership that is required for carrying out safety applications. This module can be installed and removed when the power to the system is on and when the system is operating, but the users must make sure that the power is non-hazardous and it is recommended to install or remove the module with the system turned off and disconnected from the power whenever possible. This module does not have a battery, but it does come with an “OK” status indicator.
