High-Performance Industrial Soft Starter:The PSTX470-600-70 is a premium solid-state soft starter from ABB’s PSTX series, designed for 600 V AC systems with a rated current of 470 A, capable of starting motors up to approximately 250 kW (330 HP)—ideal for pumps, fans, compressors, and conveyors.
Smooth Motor Starting, Reduced Grid & Mechanical Stress:Uses thyristor phase control to gradually ramp up motor voltage, limiting inrush current to 1.5–5x full load current, minimizing voltage dips and mechanical torque shock—extending equipment life.
Integrated Bypass Contactor for High Efficiency:Built-in bypass contactor automatically switches to direct-on-line operation after start-up, bypassing the thyristors. This reduces power losses and heat generation during continuous operation, improving energy efficiency.
Comprehensive Motor and Load Protection:Features include overload, stall, phase loss, phase imbalance, thyristor overtemperature, start time-out, and underload protection (useful for pump dry-run detection)—ensuring safe operation.
Multiple Start/Stop Modes for Diverse Loads:Supports voltage ramp, current limit, kick start (Kick Start™), soft stop, and pump stop modes—ideal for high-inertia or sticky loads such as sludge pumps or crushers.
Standard Modbus RTU with Optional Fieldbus Support:Equipped with built-in RS-485 interface and standard Modbus RTU; optional modules for Profibus DP, DeviceNet, EtherNet/IP enable seamless integration with PLCs, SCADA, or DCS systems.
