Product Description
Water blocking tapes and water swellable tapes prevent the progression of water deep into many types of critical cable designs.
It can rapidly absorb liquid at the point of insulation failure and quickly swell to block any further ingress. This ensures any cable damage is minimised, fully contained and is easy to locate and repair.
Application
Mainly used throughout the cable industry in the energy, telecommunications, data transmission and sub-sea cable market sectors.
Technical Information
Water blocking tapes and water swellable tapes from Scapa come in different materials, widths, lengths and thicknesses.
• Standard inner core diameters for water blocking tapes are 76mm, 102mm and 152mm. Various widths are available and the outer diameters are as follows:

> than 1 inch / 25mm = 38 inches / 965mm max.
• Joints of a suitable technical standard may be included but will be kept to a minimum. Heat seal joints are standard on water blocking tapes, which are thinner than conventional joints and as strong as the tape itself. Other joints (butt‐double or single) are available upon request
