The aluminum fin strip is wound into a machined helical groove on the base tube and then mechanically locked, giving stronger fin retention and more stable thermal contact than simple wound fin constructions. This structure is widely used in air coolers, economizers, condensers, and other heat-transfer equipment where durability, controlled air-side resistance, and reliable long-term service are required. G-type finned tubes are commonly produced with carbon steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, or aluminum base tubes, while the fin material is typically aluminum.

Main Features
Mechanical fin locking The aluminum fin is embedded into a machined groove and mechanically secured to the base tube, improving fin stability during service and thermal cycling.
Wide geometry range for thermal design Base tube OD ranges from 12 mm to 219 mm, wall thickness from 1.2 mm to 6.0 mm, fin height from 8 mm to 30 mm, fin thickness from 0.8 mm to 3.0 mm, and fin pitch from 2.0 mm to 20 mm, allowing precise matching to heat-transfer duty and air-side pressure-drop targets.
Broad base tube compatibility The product can be manufactured on carbon steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, or aluminum base tubes, enabling one finning concept to serve HVAC, petrochemical, utility, and general process heat-exchanger applications.
Our Advantages
Concern: Is the base tube grade really suitable for heat-exchanger duty, or is it just a general pipe material? We match the base tube to the operating duty. For heat-exchanger and condenser service, ASTM A179 is specifically intended for seamless cold-drawn low-carbon steel heat-exchanger and condenser tubes, while ASTM A192 and ASTM A210 are intended for boiler and superheater duty. Stainless options such as ASTM A213 TP304 are used when corrosion resistance and higher service reliability are required.
Concern: Will procurement documents clearly separate base tube specification from fin material specification? Yes. We define the product by two material systems: the base tube standard and grade and the aluminum fin material. This is important because the pressure boundary performance comes from the base tube standard, while the external heat-transfer surface comes from the fin strip. That distinction simplifies MTC review and technical approval.
Concern: Can the finned tube be selected by actual operating conditions rather than by a generic catalog size? Yes. The available OD, wall thickness, fin height, fin thickness, and fin pitch ranges allow configuration against thermal duty, allowable pressure drop, cleaning interval, and structural handling requirements. This is especially important for industrial air coolers and economizers where geometry has a direct effect on exchanger performance.
