Cold Rolled ASTM A106 12 m × 24 mm Seamless Hydraulic Tubing
This 24 mm seamless carbon steel tube is manufactured by cold drawing or cold rolling to improve dimensional consistency, surface quality, roundness, and straightness. It is available in fixed 12 m lengths and can be supplied in ASTM A106 Grades A, B, or C according to the required strength level.
Important specification note: ASTM A106 is primarily a seamless carbon steel pipe standard for high-temperature pressure service, rather than a dedicated precision hydraulic tubing standard. For hydraulic systems using compression fittings, controlled surface roughness, or tighter OD tolerances, EN 10305-4, EN 10305-1, or ASTM A519 should be specified as an additional or alternative requirement. ASTM permits non-standard dimensions when the finished product complies with the remaining specification requirements.

Main Features
Controlled 24 mm Outside Diameter
The final cold-sizing process improves OD consistency around the tube circumference. For precision orders, the 24 mm OD can be controlled to a contractual tolerance such as ±0.08 mm or ±0.10 mm, depending on wall thickness, delivery condition, and inspection method.

Ferrule installation
End forming
Automated cutting
Fixture positioning
Improved Roundness and Straightness
Multi-pass cold working followed by precision straightening reduces ovality and longitudinal deviation. A straightness requirement of ≤1.0 mm/m can be specified for long 12 m tubes, with tighter limits available after technical review.
Smooth Internal and External Surfaces
Cold finishing produces a more uniform surface than conventional hot-finished pressure pipe. Where hydraulic-system cleanliness and fitting performance are critical, EN 10305-4 requirements can be added. EN 10305-4 is specifically intended for seamless cold-drawn tubes used in hydraulic and pneumatic power systems and includes controlled dimensional, surface, and inspection requirements.
Grade Selection According to Pressure and Forming Requirements
ASTM A106 provides three strength levels:
Grade A for lower-strength applications requiring good formability
Grade B for general pressure-service requirements
Grade C where higher minimum yield and tensile strength are required
The selected wall thickness must be verified by the system designer using operating pressure, temperature, material allowable stress, corrosion allowance, bending reduction, and fitting type.
Our Advantages
1. Standard Compatibility Is Confirmed Before Production
Purchasing concern: A tube may be described as "ASTM A106 hydraulic tubing" even though ASTM A106 does not define the tight dimensional and surface requirements normally expected for hydraulic ferrule connections.
Our approach: The order is reviewed according to its actual function. ASTM A106 chemical and mechanical requirements can be combined with separately agreed OD tolerance, wall tolerance, straightness, roughness, cleanliness, and end-preparation requirements. For dedicated hydraulic lines, EN 10305-4 or ASTM A519 can be proposed where technically appropriate.
2. Pressure Integrity Is Verified by Documented Testing
Purchasing concern: Dimensional accuracy alone does not confirm that a seamless tube is free from longitudinal defects, laps, internal discontinuities, or pressure-leakage risks.
Our approach: Each production lot can be supplied with hydrostatic or nondestructive electric testing, dimensional records, heat-number traceability, chemical analysis, and mechanical test results. ASTM A106 includes hydrostatic and nondestructive electric testing provisions, subject to the ordered inspection route.
3. Internal Condition Is Controlled for Hydraulic Assembly
Purchasing concern: Residual scale, rust, oil contamination, sharp end burrs, or excessive internal roughness can damage valves, seals, and hydraulic components.
Our approach: Tubes can be supplied internally cleaned, dried, lightly oiled, end-capped, and deburred. For higher cleanliness requirements, internal roughness, particle limits, protective packaging, and cleanliness verification can be defined in the purchase specification. EN 10305-4 hydraulic tubing can be ordered with smooth internal and external surfaces and specified roughness requirements.

Application
Rigid Pressure Line for a Hydraulic Power Unit
The 24 mm seamless tube can be used as a rigid pressure line connecting the hydraulic pump, directional control valve, and actuator in an industrial hydraulic power unit.
Before final selection, the system designer should confirm:
Maximum working and surge pressure
Required internal diameter and flow velocity
Operating temperature
Hydraulic-fluid compatibility
Bend radius
Fitting system
Required safety factor
Corrosion protection
Internal cleanliness class
For compression-ring or ferrule-type hydraulic fittings, EN 10305-4 E235+N or E355+N is generally the more technically direct specification than ASTM A106 alone. Parker's technical guidance also recommends cold-drawn, normalized hydraulic tubes manufactured to DIN EN 10305, including E235 and E355 grades.
