This alloy balance is the reason it remains one of the standard choices for marine and condenser tubing rather than general-purpose brass.
Stable mechanical profile in annealed tube form For annealed C70600 tube, published values are approximately 44 ksi tensile strength, 16 ksi yield strength, and 15% elongation in tube temper data, which gives a practical balance between tube expansion workability and in-service strength.
Moderate thermal conductivity with better seawater durability than ordinary brass C70600 is published with about 9% IACS electrical conductivity, specific gravity 8.94, and modulus of elasticity 18,000 ksi, showing the classic tradeoff of copper-nickel condenser alloys: lower conductivity than brass but stronger resistance to seawater-side corrosion and erosion.
Good fabrication and maintenance compatibility Published fabrication data rate C70600 as excellent for gas-shielded arc welding and excellent for butt welding, which is valuable for tube sheet work, repair, and system integration.
