Hastelloy C276 pipe is used extensively in the recovery as well as the processing of sour natural gas. Typically, sour gas environments contain corrosive compounds such as hydrogen sulfide along with carbon dioxide and chlorides. The more conventionally used carbon and alloy steels cant withstand such corrosive media containing environment. These carbon steels and alloy steel are subjected to sulfide stress cracking or stress-related corrosion cracking in comparison to Nickel C276 Pipe when exposed to these environments.
