Above-ground oil tanks
An above-ground oil tank refers to an oil tank whose foundation is higher than or equal to the minimum elevation of the adjacent area, or an oil tank whose burial depth is less than half of its own height. Above-ground oil tanks are a common type of oil tank in refining enterprises. They are easy to construct, manage and maintain, but have large evaporation loss and high fire risk.
Underground oil tanks
An underground oil tank refers to an oil tank where the highest oil level in the tank is 0.2m lower than the minimum elevation of the adjacent area, and the thickness of the overlying soil on the tank top is not less than 0.5m. This type of oil tank has low loss and low fire risk.
Semi-underground oil tanks
A semi-underground oil tank refers to an oil tank whose burial depth exceeds half of its height, and the highest oil level in the tank is no more than 2m higher than the minimum elevation of the adjacent area.
