CMC-NH4 (Ammonium Carboxymethyl Cellulose) is a water-soluble cellulose derivative in which the hydrogen ions of the carboxymethyl groups are neutralized by ammonium ions. Unlike conventional Sodium Carboxymethyl Cellulose (CMC-Na), CMC-NH4 is specially designed for high-performance and high-purity applications where alkali metal ions must be avoided.

Solubility: Soluble in water, aqueous alkali, and ammonia solutions; insoluble in organic solvents and mineral oils.
Thermal Behavior: Upon heating (typically between 105°C and 150°C), it releases ammonia ($NH_3$) and converts into a water-insoluble acid-type cellulose (H-CMC).
Catalytic Environmental Protection Systems: Functions as a specialized binder in manufacturing advanced emission-control catalysts. It prevents metal poisoning and deactivation issues associated with standard sodium-based binders, thereby preserving activity and extending service life.
Energy Storage Devices: Serves as an advanced, environmentally friendly aqueous binder for battery electrodes (such as graphite anodes). It provides exceptional mechanical stability and enhances long-term cycling performance without introducing contaminating metal ions.
Advanced Ceramics and Metallurgy: Utilized as a temporary binder in fine ceramics and powder metallurgy, ensuring complete burnout without leaving metal residues during high-temperature processing.
Clean Thermal Decomposition: Decomposes and burns off cleanly during calcination, leaving virtually no residual metal ash or alkali metal salts ($Na^+$) that could affect functional performance.
Thermal Crosslinking: Readily transforms into a water-resistant binder structure upon heat treatment, offering superior structural support during processing.
