CMC-NH₄, ammonium carboxymethylcellulose, is a cellulose-based nonionic extract refined from natural cellulose through a series of chemical conversion procedures. Visually, it is a fine white powder with no peculiar odor or taste and poses no toxic risks to users. When mixed with cold water, it can fully dissolve and create transparent solutions with good viscosity. The material comes with diverse functional traits: thickening capacity, cohesive strength, dispersion assistance, emulsifying performance, film-forming ability, suspension stability, adsorption capacity, gel formation and surface activity. Manufacturers in honeycomb ceramic production, lithium cell manufacturing, supercapacitor processing and electronic component packaging widely utilize this raw material to raise the rate of qualified finished goods. Its structural formula is C₆H₇O₂(OH)₂OCH₂COONH₄, and molecular formula is C₈H₁₅O₇N.
As a specialized binder material, ammonium carboxymethylcellulose (CMC-NH4) serves as a core raw material for premium SCR denitrification catalyst production. Ordinary sodium CMC contains alkali metal components that tend to degrade SCR catalysts: these metals will break the catalyst framework and destroy its active reaction points, leading to catalyst failure. Substituting conventional CMC with CMC-NH4 effectively avoids such deactivation problems. Catalysts manufactured with this ammonium-type cellulose deliver remarkably better working efficiency and longer service cycles, helping manufacturers gain stronger market advantages. Furthermore, CMC-NH4 outperforms regular CMC in two critical aspects: it delivers superior binding force during molding, and leaves far fewer ash residues once calcination is completed.
