N2 and O2 both have a quadrupole, with N2 (0.31 Å) having a larger quadrupole than O2 (0.10 Å). This results in stronger adsorption capacity by molecular sieve for N2 than O2. When compressed air flows through the adsorption bed formed by molecular sieve at certain pressure, N2 gas is absorbed while O2 is obtained by separation.
The system consists of two towers filled with molecular sieve. While one tower produces N2 by absorbing it from compressed air, the other tower releases N2 through pressure reduction to regenerate the carbon molecular sieve. The towers alternate between adsorption and regeneration to ensure continuous N2 output.
