lat steel made of ordinary carbon structural steel (such as Q235B) is a basic long strip steel with no special corrosion-resistant or heat-resistant properties. Its main advantages are simple forming, low cost, and sufficient strength, primarily relying on its cross-sectional shape (large width-to-thickness ratio) to achieve specific functions.
Core Properties (Taking Q235B as an example)
· Mechanical Properties: Tensile strength approximately 370-500 MPa, yield strength ≥235 MPa. It is a low-carbon steel with low hardness but excellent ductility and weldability.
· Corrosion Resistance: Not rust-resistant. In humid or outdoor environments, it must be treated with painting or galvanization; otherwise, it will rust quickly.
· Dimensional Specifications: Typically widths range from 12 to 200 mm, thicknesses from 3 to 60 mm, with a large width-to-thickness ratio for easy cutting and assembly.
Main Application Industries
Flat steel is not directly used for 'equipment bodies' but more often as structural components, connecting parts, and raw materials for processing:
· Construction and Civil Engineering: Used for stair treads, steel structure platform grating, building lightning protection grounding conductors, factory pull rods, etc.
· Machinery Manufacturing: Served as equipment bases, flange blanks, crane track pads, or for manufacturing small shafts, keys, clamps, etc.
· Vehicles and Ships: Applied in truck frames, ship side stiffeners, container base frame components.
· Corrosion Protection Extension (Galvanized Flat Steel): If referring to hot-dip galvanized flat steel, it is widely used in power engineering grounding lines, substation structures, outdoor fences, highway guardrails, etc.
Difference from Stainless Steel Flat Steel
If what you actually need is stainless steel flat steel (such as 304/316L), then its material properties should follow the stainless steel performance I previously discussed. It is mainly used in scenarios requiring corrosion resistance, such as chemical equipment supports, food machinery guides, and marine engineering connection parts.
