The electromagnetic pulse of the level gauge travels at the speed of light along the cable or probe. Part of the pulse of the level gauge is reflected to form an echo and returns to the pulse transmitter along the same path. Strong inhibition of steam and foam, measurement is not affected.The distance between the transmitter and the surface of the measured medium is proportional to the propagation time of the pulse in that time period, and the height of the liquid level is calculated.
