Reliable Measurement Capability In Extreme And Harsh Working Conditions - Split Type Pressure Transmitter

 

A split type pressure transmitter refers to a transmitter where the pressure sensor (also known as the "diaphragm" or "sensor head") and the signal transmitter (electronic component) are physically separated and connected through a capillary tube and filling liquid system.

The split design is aimed at addressing extreme working conditions that integrated transmitters cannot handle. Its value is reflected in the following scenarios:

Application Scenarios
  1. Ultra-high temperature medium Prevent direct heat conduction from the medium (above 150℃, even up to 400℃ or more) from damaging the electronic components of the transmitter. Install the high-temperature flange at the process point and dissipate heat through a long capillary tube, while installing the transmitter body in an area with a lower ambient temperature.
  2. Strongly corrosive, high-viscosity, and easily crystallizing media Prevent the medium from blocking or corroding the direct pressure tapping holes or sensor diaphragms. At the same time, it is convenient to insulate or heat the diaphragm. Adopt a flat flange or insert-type remote diaphragm, with the diaphragm material specially selected (such as Hastelloy, tantalum, or PTFE-coated), and there are no dead corners for medium retention.
  3. Severe vibration or space-constrained points Prevent mechanical vibration from affecting the accuracy and lifespan of the transmitter; in locations with extremely limited installation space, the transmitter body cannot be accommodated. Install the compact flange diaphragm at the vibration point or in a narrow area, and fix the transmitter body on a stable bracket or wall.
  4. Processes requiring frequent cleaning or sterilization For example, in the food and pharmaceutical industries, equipment needs to undergo CIP (Cleaning-In-Place) or SIP (Sterilization-In-Place), and high-temperature steam can damage electronic components. Adopt a sanitary flange diaphragm, with the transmitter body away from the cleaning area, capable of withstanding harsh cleaning processes.
  5. Equipment matching and integration Provide standard pressure interfaces for equipment such as reactors and fermenters. Equipment manufacturers integrate the flange, and users install the transmitter themselves. Provide standardized remote flange devices.

Cost Expensive. The equipment itself is expensive, and the comprehensive cost of installation and maintenance is high. Economical, low comprehensive cost.
Applicability Solution for special working conditions (high temperature, corrosion, vibration, etc.). Preferred for the vast majority of conventional working conditions.

Split-type pressure transmitters are the "special forces" in pressure measurement technology. They trade off response speed, increase system complexity and cost, in exchange for the ability to perform reliable measurements under extremely harsh conditions.
