Precision Insertion Type Pressure Transmitter For Measurement Position

An insertion type pressure transmitter refers to a pressure transmitter whose pressure sensing element (diaphragm) extends a certain distance into a pipe, container or equipment through an extended neck or probe from the installation interface (usually a flange).

1. Precise measurement location Traditional wall-mounted transmitters can only measure pressure at the pipe wall, which may be affected by flow separation, vortices or sedimentation and cannot represent the true pressure of the main flow. Insertion type can place the measurement point at the ideal location.
2. Suitable for high-temperature media By extending the neck for heat dissipation, the transmitter body operates within a safe temperature range, solving the problem of direct thermal shock to electronic components from high-temperature media.
3. Reduced pressure tapping lines For liquid level measurement in large storage tanks, it can be directly inserted through an opening in the side wall, eliminating the need for complex pressure guiding tubes from the tank bottom, simplifying installation and reducing clogging and leakage points.
4. Avoiding medium deposition impact For media prone to sedimentation, insertion into the flow area prevents the pressure tapping port from being blocked or covered by sediment, ensuring continuous measurement.
5. Online installation possibility (for valve-insertion type) Some designs, in combination with isolation ball valves, allow for installation and maintenance without system shutdown, greatly enhancing system availability.

• Precise liquid level measurement for large storage tanks:

  Scenario: Oil and chemical raw material storage tanks.

  Application: Install an insertable flange pressure transmitter on the lower side wall of the tank. The diaphragm extends into the tank to a certain depth to measure the static pressure at that point. The liquid level is accurately calculated using P = ρgh. This method is superior to the pressure tapping from the tank bottom.

• High-temperature process pressure measurement:

  Scenario: Hot oil systems, high-temperature reactors, steam pipelines.

  Application: Use an insertable transmitter with a heat dissipation extension neck to ensure that the diaphragm comes into contact with the high-temperature medium while keeping the transmitter body temperature within the allowable range (e.g., 85°C).

• Flowing pressure measurement (non-wall pressure):

  Scenario: Outlet air pressure of fans, airflow test pipelines, scientific research devices requiring measurement of the pressure in the center flow field.

  Application: Place the measurement point at the center of the pipeline to obtain the true total pressure or static pressure.

• Media prone to sedimentation or adhesion:

  Scenario: Slurry tanks, sedimentation tanks, pipelines with solid particles in flow.

  Application: Position the diaphragm in the flowing area to keep it clean by fluid scouring.

The insertable pressure transmitter is a functional extension and targeted optimization of the standard flange-mounted transmitter. The core issue it addresses is: when the wall position of the measurement point cannot represent the true process pressure, or the medium temperature is too high or prone to sedimentation, how to safely and accurately deliver the measurement diaphragm to the best measurement position.
