The oval gear flowmeter (also known as the displacement flowmeter or gear flowmeter) is a type of volumetric flowmeter. It measures flow by mechanically dividing the fluid into individual known volume segments and counting the number of times this volume is repeatedly filled and discharged.

The elliptical gear flowmeter is particularly suitable for the measurement of oil and fuel products. It can be used for petroleum diesel, resin asphalt, viscous media, and high-temperature liquids.
