Frequency modulated radar level gauge
The frequency modulated radar level gauge, also known as Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave (FMCW) radar level gauge, is a high-precision liquid level measurement device.
Continuous microwave pulses with frequency modulation are emitted through the antenna system. These pulses are reflected when they encounter the surface of the medium and are received by the same antenna. The received signal is processed through amplification, mixing, etc., to obtain a difference frequency signal that is proportional to the frequency difference between the transmitted and received signals. This frequency difference is proportional to the propagation time of the microwave pulse in the medium. By measuring the frequency of the difference frequency signal and combining it with the speed of light, the propagation distance of the microwave pulse in the medium can be calculated. Then, based on the geometric shape and size of the storage tank or container, the propagation distance is converted into the liquid level height.
