HCG or HCG similarlycoproteins can also be produced by a wide variety of trophoblastic and nontrophoblastic tumors. The measurementif HCG, by assay systems with suitable sensitivity and specificity has proven great value in the detection ofregnancy and the diagnosis of early pregnancy disorders.iccording to the literature, HCG is delectable as early as 10 days after ovulation, reaching 100mlU/ml by the firsthissed period. At the time for the next ovulation, the HCG level is 200mlU/ml(approximately 28 days after conception) peak of 50000 or even 100,000 mlU/ml is attained by the third month, then a gradual decline is observed.n this method, HCG calibrators, patient specimen or control is first added to antibody to FlTC coated well. FITC andnzyme labeled HCG antibodies are added and mixed. Reaction between the various HCG antibodies and nativeICG fomms a sandwich complex that binds with the antibody to FITC coated to the well.fter the completion of the required incubation period, the enzyme-chorionic gonadotropin antibody bound conjugatei separated from the unbound enzyme-chorionic gonadotropin coniugae by aspiration or decantation. The activity oihe enzyme present on the surlace of the well is ouantitated by reaction with a sutable substrate to produce colorthe employment of several serum references of known chorionic gonadotropin levels permits construction of a doseesponse curve of activity and concentration. From comparison to the dose response curve, an unknow specimen'sictivity can be correlated with chorionic gonadotropin concentration.
