Q: How many coats does a 1K through green base coat need to hide the old colour?
A: Two to three coats are normally enough. Because the pigment loading is high, the first coat already seals most of the old colour, and each following coat builds depth with a 5-8 minute flash-off between layers before clear coat.
Q: What mixing ratio should I use for this green base coat?
A: Mix 100 parts base coat with 100-120 parts thinner, stir evenly and strain before spraying. Do not add hardener, because a 1K product cures by solvent evaporation and adding hardener will shorten pot life without improving the finish.
Q: What causes poor coverage or orange peel when spraying green basecoat?
A: Usually too little thinner, a gun held too far from the panel or coats applied too fast. Thin to the 1:1-1.2 ratio, keep the gun 15-20cm away, overlap 50-60% per pass and allow proper flash-off so the film levels before the next coat.
Q: Will this through green tone stay stable under UV and solvent?
A: Yes. The through green pigment is lightfast and solvent resistant, so it keeps its tone after polishing and does not bleed when clear coat or thinner is applied over it. Finish with a UV-stable clear coat for long outdoor life.
