Udel® P-1700 polysulfone (PSU) is a tough, rigid, high-strength thermoplastic suitable for continuous use up to 300°F (149°C). It offers excellent resistance to oxidation and hydrolysis, withstanding prolonged exposure to high temperatures and repeated sterilization cycles.
Highly resistant to mineral acids, alkali and salt solutions. Good resistance to detergents and hydrocarbon oils. May be attacked by polar solvents such as ketones, chlorinated hydrocarbons and aromatic hydrocarbons.
Electrical properties remain stable over a wide temperature range and after immersion in water or exposure to high humidity. Highly resistant to degradation by gamma or electron beam radiation.
Ideal for membrane filtration applications including renal dialysis, water treatment, bio-processing, food and beverage processing, and industrial gas separation. Particularly well suited for fabrication of porous hollow fiber and flat sheet membranes using solvent-based processes.
Complies with CFR 177.1655 for repeated use in contact with foods. Approved by NSF, Department of Agriculture for contact with meat and poultry, and by the 3-A Sanitary Standards of the Dairy Association.
