SMP Straight PCB Limited Detent /Smooth Bore Jack Female Surface Mount 50 Ohm
Elite Electronics' SMP RF connectors has low VSWR performance up to 40 GHz. Offering maximum design flexibility, our portfolio includes straight, right-angle, and flange-mount options, PCB mount and SMP cable assemblies. We understand that every application has unique requirements, which is why we provide three distinct male plug configurations:
SMP Insertion and extraction force: Full Detent > Limited Detent > Smooth Bore
1. Full Detent
Mechanical Characteristics: This is the SMP interface type with the strongest retention force. It requires significant insertion force, and a distinct "click" sound indicates that it is fully locked into place.
Advantages: It offers the best vibration and shock resistance, ensuring a highly stable connection that is not easily disconnected accidentally.
Disadvantages: Due to the tight connection, a considerable pulling force is required to disconnect it. Frequent mating and unmating significantly affect its service life, which is typically only around 100 cycles.
Applications: Primarily used in occasions requiring high stability, such as avionics and radar systems. It is often used for cable connections that are rarely disconnected once installed.
2. Limited Detent
Mechanical Characteristics: Also known as "Limited Detent," it strikes a balance between retention force and ease of use. Its connection strength lies between that of the Full Detent and the Smooth Bore.
Performance Advantages: Compared to the Full Detent, it is easier to mate and unmate, while providing better connection stability than the Smooth Bore. It is suitable for test scenarios requiring frequent connections and disconnections.
Disadvantages: Although more durable than the Full Detent, its service life is still not as long as that of the Smooth Bore type.
Applications: Highly suitable for precision measurements and modular equipment requiring frequent maintenance. It is a common choice in the field of test and measurement.
3. Smooth Bore
Mechanical Characteristics: This interface has no detent (locking) structure, resulting in the minimum connection retention force. Insertion and removal are both very easy.
Advantages: It allows for certain misalignment errors in axial and radial directions, making it highly suitable for high-density blind-mating applications. It has the longest mating cycle life.
Disadvantages: The connection stability is the worst; it is prone to loosening or disconnecting when subjected to external pulling forces or strong vibrations.
Applications: Mainly used for high-density board-to-board connections, blind-mate systems, or non-precision measurement occasions, such as phased array antennas and densely assembled communication equipment interiors
