Function: The Commode Non-Magnetic MRI Wheelchair serves a dual purpose: it functions as a standard transport wheelchair and as a bedside commode. The seat has a removable insert that, when taken out, reveals a opening for a bedpan or commode bucket. The chair can be positioned over a toilet (the armrests swing up and the footrests swing away) to allow direct transfer from chair to toilet. The commode bucket (plastic, non-magnetic) slides into a holder under the seat and can be removed for cleaning. The seat cover is seamless and fluid-proof, with no crevices where contaminants can accumulate. The chair also includes a privacy apron (removable cloth) that hangs from the armrests to provide coverage during use.
Application: This wheelchair is essential for MRI patients who have mobility limitations and also have bowel or bladder issues that require toileting assistance. Inpatients who are awaiting MRI may need to use the bathroom, but transferring from a standard wheelchair to a toilet is difficult or impossible for some patients. The commode wheelchair allows the patient to be toileted directly in the chair, either at the bedside (using the commode bucket) or positioned over a toilet. This reduces the risk of falls (the patient does not need to stand or transfer) and reduces the time required for toileting, allowing the MRI schedule to stay on track. The chair is also used for patients with diarrhea, incontinence, or post-surgical restrictions that prevent them from sitting on a standard toilet.

Armrests: flip-back, full-length, padded. Footrests: swing-away, removable. Rear wheels: 24 inches, composite, with solid rubber tires. Front casters: 6 inches, swivel.
