Function: This self-propelled wheelchair allows patients to move themselves within the MRI suite environment, promoting independence and reducing staff burden. The chair is equipped with large rear wheels (24 inches) with push rims made of non-magnetic polymer. Patients can propel themselves using the push rims, which have a textured surface for grip. The chair also includes attendant push handles at the rear for staff assistance when needed. All bearings in the wheel hubs are ceramic, and the axles are made of non-magnetic stainless steel (austenitic grade). The frame is constructed from carbon-fiber-reinforced polymer, resulting in an ultra-lightweight chair weighing only 28 pounds – easily lifted by one person. The seat is ergonomically contoured with a 2-inch foam cushion covered in fluid-proof vinyl. The backrest folds down flat, allowing the chair to be stored in small spaces.
