1. Quality – Performance Across Photon Energy Ranges
Different modalities produce different photon energies, and Jovvi lead glass quality is defined by how consistently it performs across this spectrum.

2. Application Scenarios – Room‑by‑Room Guidance
A. Conventional X‑ray & CT (Diagnostic Radiology)
Typical setup: Single monolithic lead glass panel mounted in a lead‑lined drywall.
Jovvi recommendation: 2.0 mm Pb (X‑ray) or 2.3 mm Pb (CT) – balance of cost, weight, and visibility.
Special note: For CT rooms with 140 kVp or higher, use 2.5 mm Pb.
B. SPECT (Gamma Camera) Rooms
Photon energy: Mostly 140 keV (⁹⁹ᵐTc), also 59.5 keV (²⁴¹Am) and 364 keV (¹³¹I).
Jovvi recommendation: 2.8 mm Pb equivalent (physical ~16 mm).
Installation note: SPECT rooms often have the control booth adjacent to the gamma camera, requiring a window size of 800*600 mm to 1200*800 mm. Lead glass alone is sufficient if the wall shielding matches.
C. PET‑CT (511 keV Annihilation Photons)
Challenge: 511 keV photons have a half‑value layer in lead of approximately 4 mm. A single 5 mm Pb lead glass panel (physical ~28 mm thick) is heavy (~110 kg/m²) and expensive.
Jovvi composite solution (better value):
Option 1: 2.0 mm Pb lead glass (front) + 12 mm lead acrylic (middle) + 2.0 mm Pb lead glass (rear) – total shielding ~5.5 mm Pb eq. at 511 keV.
Option 2: 3.0 mm Pb lead glass alone (physical 18 mm) + additional 2 mm lead sheet on wall – lower weight but requires precise installation.
Visual quality: Composite windows have slight haze due to lead acrylic; Jovvi offers anti‑reflection coating to improve clarity.
D. Nuclear Medicine Hot Lab (Radiopharmacy)
Application: Viewing port into a fume hood or Laminar Flow Cabinet where ⁹⁹ᵐTc or ¹⁸F‑FDG is prepared.
Jovvi recommendation: Small panel (300*300 mm to 500*400 mm) with 2.5–3.0 mm Pb eq. – higher not needed because handling time is short and syringe shielding is used.
Quality requirement: Extremely low bubble count (<0.2 bubbles >0.3 mm per 100 cm²) to avoid visual obstruction during fine motor tasks.
E. Patient Isolation Room (High‑dose Therapy, e.g., ¹³¹I > 200 mCi)
Application: Viewing window from nurse station into patient room.
Jovvi recommendation: 3.5–4.0 mm Pb eq. Monolithic lead glass (physical 20–24 mm). Additional lead shielding on door and walls is more critical.
3. Production Assurance – Energy‑Specific Testing
Jovvi does not use generic “X‑ray testing" for nuclear medicine products. Each panel intended for SPECT or PET‑CT receives:
Attenuation measurement at 140 keV (using ⁹⁹ᵐTc source or X‑ray tube with 140 kVp + filtering) – required for SPECT rooms.
Optional 511 keV measurement – using a ²²Na source (annihilation photons). Jovvi provides this at extra cost for PET‑CT projects.
Uniformity scan – a 2D grid of attenuation values across the entire panel, ensuring no local weak spots.

Nuclear medicine supplement (140 keV and/or 511 keV test results)
