The All-Terrain Non-Magnetic MRI Wheelchair is built for outdoor use, allowing patients to be transported from a hospital entrance or parking lot to the MRI suite without transferring to a different wheelchair. The chair features large rear wheels (26 inches) with pneumatic tires (air-filled) that provide cushioning over rough surfaces such as asphalt, grass, gravel, or snow. The front casters are 8 inches with pneumatic tires and a suspension system (non-magnetic gas springs) that absorbs shocks. The frame is constructed from carbon-fiber-reinforced polymer, which is both strong and lightweight, and the entire chair is sealed against water and mud. The push handles are extra-long (12 inches) to provide leverage for pushing over uneven terrain.
This wheelchair is for MRI facilities located in buildings with outdoor access, such as freestanding imaging centers with parking lots, hospitals with multiple buildings connected by walkways, or facilities in rural areas where patients may be dropped off at a distance. Many patients cannot walk from a car to the MRI suite, and standard wheelchairs are difficult to push over asphalt, gravel, or snow. This all-terrain chair makes outdoor transport easy and comfortable for the patient. The chair is also useful for mobile MRI units that park outdoors; patients can be wheeled from the parking area to the mobile unit across grass or gravel. The chair’s non-magnetic construction means it can be used indoors as well – the pneumatic tires are safe on hospital flooring, though they may leave marks (the chair comes with indoor-use solid tires that can be swapped in).
Suspension can be locked for indoor use.
Includes a set of indoor solid tires (5-inch front, 24-inch rear) that can be swapped in 10 minutes (tool-free).
Also includes a non-magnetic cup holder and a storage pouch on the back of the chair.
Three-year warranty on frame and suspension.
