Buffer: Sodium acetate can stabilize the pH value of the water and prevent acid-base fluctuations
Carbon source supplement: Sodium acetate can be used as a carbon source to promote the growth and metabolism of microorganisms
Scale inhibitor: Sodium acetate can form soluble complexes with calcium and magnesium ions in water to prevent the formation of scale
Heavy metal removal: Sodium acetate can react with some heavy metal ions (such as lead, chromium) to precipitate, which is used to remove heavy metals from wastewater
Chemical Synthesis
Intermediate: Sodium acetate is used as an intermediate to synthesize other chemicals, such as acetate and acetic anhydride
Catalyst: In some chemical reactions, sodium acetate can be used as a catalyst or cocatalyst
Textile Industry
Dye fixing agent: Sodium acetate is used in the dyeing process of textiles to help dyes better adhere to fibers and improve dyeing fastness
