High Light Fully Automatic Robotic Faucet Polishing MachineBrass Faucet Body Polishing MachineCasting Forging Faucet Body Polishing Machine
Fully Automatic Robotic Faucet Polishing Machine for Brass Faucet Body
A brass faucet body leaves the casting or forging line rough. It arrives at the plating line needing to be mirror-finished. Everything in between—the cutting of casting skin, the building of surface through colour and gloss stages, the hunting-down of sandholes before they reach the chrome tank—is polishing. In most brass faucet factories, polishing remains the department where the most people perform the most repetitive work with the least consistency.
The LR-POLISH-AUTO-BF is a fully automatic robotic faucet polishing machine built specifically for brass faucet bodies: HPb59 leaded, Pb-free, cast or forged, single-handle or double-handle, chrome-destined or PVD-bound. Fully automatic means the machine polishes faucets—not the operator. The operator loads the pallet, selects the job, and the cell identifies the faucet model, calls the recipe, runs cut-to-mirror polishing, checks the surface and logs the result—through breaks, shift changes and overnight—delivering a chrome-ready or PVD-ready body to the unload station every [TBC] seconds.

Proprietary Selling Points
1. Casting-Skin Cut Discipline — Cut First, Colour Second, No Shortcuts
Phase C1 is non-negotiable for cast brass bodies. The casting skin is a hard, oxidised layer that polishing compound cannot penetrate without a dedicated cut stage:
  • Sisal wheel with abrasive cutting compound is applied to every external face of the faucet body at recipe-defined force—high enough to break through the casting skin and expose clean brass, low enough to avoid over-removing material from thin neck sections.
  • The cut path covers all cosmetic faces including the body shoulder, spout arch, side-port bosses and base flange in the correct order.
  • After C1, the part surface is clean brass—not polished casting skin. This is what makes the subsequent colour and mirror stages work.
4. Compound-Curve Body Normal Tracking — Spout Neck to Base Flange, No Unhit Patches
A brass faucet body is a compound surface: the spout arch curves through [TBC]°, the body shoulder transitions from the spout to the cylindrical shank, the side-port bosses project outward, and the base flange faces axially. The robot path for Phase C2 and M is surface-normal-tracked throughout:
  • The polishing wheel axis is kept perpendicular to the local surface tangent at every path point.
  • Path density adapts to curvature—tighter spacing on the high-curvature spout base and shoulder, wider spacing on the straighter shank.
  • Side-port bosses are covered by a dedicated path segment with approach angle adjusted to the boss face normal—they are not "hoped for" from a tangential pass on the main body.
There are no un-polished patches on the delivered body. Every cosmetic face is addressed by a path segment specifically designed for that face's geometry.
Normal-tracking angular resolution: [TBC] °; boss coverage: dedicated segment per boss position.
5. Automatic Tool Change — Cut to Mirror Without Stopping
The transition from Phase C1 (sisal cut) to Phase M (cotton / flannel mirror) requires different wheels. In the LR-POLISH-AUTO-BF, the robot visits the automatic tool-change rack between phases:
  • Each rack position holds one tool type (sisal / cotton / flannel / narrow hex wheel).
  • Tool change takes [TBC] s—no operator required between phases.
  • Each tool position carries a wear counter; when the counter reaches the replacement threshold, a maintenance flag is raised at end-of-part (not mid-cycle). The cell completes the current batch before requiring a tool change.
  • Tool-change events are logged per part in the process record.

Frequently Asked Questions
1. "Fully automatic" — what does the operator actually do?
The operator loads brass faucet bodies onto the pallet (or conveyor), selects the job number on the HMI, and confirms the start. After that: the cell identifies the faucet model, calls the recipe, changes tools automatically between phases, runs the full C1→C2→M sequence, checks for sandholes and Ra, logs the result, and signals for the next part. The operator returns for the next pallet load and to action any maintenance flags (tool change, compound refill). During the run—including overnight and weekends—no operator is required.
2. Our bodies are investment-cast and arrive with a heavy casting skin. Does the machine handle this incoming condition?
Yes—Phase C1 is configured for as-cast incoming condition. The sisal wheel with abrasive cutting compound is applied at force and dwell settings tuned to your specific casting skin Ra. If your bodies arrive from vibratory finishing with skin already removed, the C1 settings are reduced in the recipe (lighter force, shorter dwell) to match the actual incoming Ra, shortening cycle time. Confirm with samples.
3. We've been burning through chrome plating rejects due to sandholes. Can this machine help?
Directly. The post-C1 vision check catches sandholes after the casting skin is removed—the earliest point in the process at which porosity is detectable on the surface. Bodies flagged at this point are diverted before consuming Phase C2 polishing time, compound, wheel life, and plating cost. The vision data per shift tells you which casting batches are running high sandhole rates, enabling upstream feedback to your casting supplier or casting process.
