High Light Fully Automatic Robotic Surface Finish SystemSurface Finish System for Sanitary HardwareSanitary Hardware Surface Finish System
Fully Automatic Robotic Surface Finish System For Sanitary Hardware
A sanitary hardware factory's surface finishing department presents multiple overlapping challenges — each governed by different alloys, part geometries, downstream coatings, and quality standards.
Brass faucet bodies require mirror-polishing sequences before chrome plating. Stainless steel mixer taps need weld-seam blending and PVD-ready surface roughness that brass line compounds would contaminate. Zinc alloy die cast fittings require high-gloss protocols that stainless line force settings would compromise. Pipe connector flanges need parting-line fillet deburring without disturbing bolt-hole pitch circles. Bathroom valves require in-line sandhole checks between grinding and plating.
Most sanitary hardware factories manage this complexity with separate machines per alloy, multiple stations per process, various tooling sets, multiple operators, and either paper-based or non-existent quality records.
The LR-SFS-SH is a fully automatic robotic surface finish system that replaces this fragmented approach with a coordinated, data-connected finishing infrastructure. It handles every alloy, part family, and downstream coating requirement in your sanitary hardware product range — from the same equipment family, under the same process data platform, with single-supplier responsibility for complete surface finishing results.

The Problem: Fragmented Finishing Creates Quality, Cost and Data Issues
Quality Fragmentation
Manual stations or single-purpose machines produce inconsistent results on identical parts due to operator variations, shift changes, wheel age, and batch sequences. A brass faucet polished by an experienced operator at 08:00 differs from one polished by a new hire at 15:30. When chrome plating receives both in the same batch, it cannot adjust — and post-plating rejects cannot be traced to their finishing source.
Cost Fragmentation
Manual finishing across a full sanitary hardware range typically requires: polishers for brass, separate polishers for stainless (different compound chemistry), deburring benches for castings and fittings, polishing benches for mixer taps, and additional stations for valves and connectors. Each station demands tooling, compounds, extraction systems, and operator time — multiplied across every product category.
Data Fragmentation
Manual finishing generates no process data. When chrome or PVD plating batches fail, investigations lack answers about substrate roughness, operator identity, compound usage, or wheel freshness. Fragmented machine parks may produce cell-level records unconnected to part serial numbers or batches.
The LR-SFS-SH solves all three issues simultaneously: consistent automated finishing replaces operator-dependent quality; one system family replaces multiple-station capital investment; unified data replaces manual quality record gaps.
Unified Process Data Platform — Comprehensive Part and Process Tracking
Individual LR-SFS-SH cells generate per-part process records including phase logs, surface roughness or gloss unit results, tool identification and wear counts, vision gate results, program versions, and timestamps. The unified data platform collects these records from all cells and organizes them by:
  • Part serial number / batch ID: Every record is searchable by the specific part it relates to
  • Material and cell: Records are tagged by alloy and cell, making cross-cell quality trends visible
  • Plating destination: Records include downstream coating types, enabling correlation of surface roughness with plating batch outcomes
  • Program version: Each record links finished parts to exact program versions — plating adhesion failure investigations start from data records rather than operator recollection
The unified platform exports to your MES, ERP, or QMS systems in CSV/JSON formats. For sanitary hardware OEMs supplying retail chains, hospitality groups, or architectural projects requiring supplier finishing process records, the platform automatically generates necessary documentation.
Frequently Asked Questions
We have a mixed product range — brass faucets, stainless mixer taps and zinc die cast fittings. Do we need all the modules?
No. The LR-SFS-SH is assembled from modules matching your current range. A factory running brass faucets, stainless mixer taps, and zinc fittings would configure Modules 1, 2/3, 5 and 6. Modules for valves, pipe connectors, and die cast housings are added only if those product families are in your range. We start from your product range list and identify the minimum module set that covers it.
How does the system prevent cross-contamination between brass and stainless finishing?
Through cell dedication and barcode/RFID load-station confirmation. Each cell is dedicated to its specific alloy family — brass compound never enters stainless cells, and vice versa. When parts are loaded at any cell, their barcode or RFID is read and matched to the cell's alloy configuration. Misrouted parts (wrong alloy at wrong cell) are flagged before tool contact, and events are logged. The data platform reports misrouting rates per cell per shift.
Our chrome plating line sends back batches for rework when surface roughness is out of specification. Can the system reduce this?
Yes — this represents one of the system's primary ROI drivers. Every cell feeding chrome or PVD plating lines includes an in-line surface roughness check as the final gate before part exit. Parts failing roughness checks receive automatic correction passes; if still below target after correction, they are flagged and don't reach plating tanks. The plating line receives only confirmed-substrate roughness parts, eliminating chrome rework batches from finishing-side roughness variations.
