Leveraging the natural properties of inorganic mineral fibers, rock wool boards exhibit comprehensive advantages of "safety, efficiency, durability, and adaptability" in building insulation. They not only meet the energy-saving needs of residential buildings but also cater to the complex requirements of fire resistance and sound insulation for public buildings, making them one of the preferred materials for exterior walls, roofs, and envelope insulation in current construction.​

High-Efficiency Insulation for Reduced Building Energy Consumption​

The three-dimensional interwoven fiber structure of rock wool boards creates a large number of closed pores (porosity > 90%), with a thermal conductivity as low as 0.036-0.042 W/(m·K) at room temperature—far below the national standard requirement for building insulation materials (≤0.045 W/(m·K)). When used for exterior walls or roofs, they effectively block the transfer of outdoor high temperatures into the interior (in summer) or the loss of indoor heat to the outside (in winter), reducing air conditioning and heating energy consumption by 30%-50%. This directly complies with the national mandatory standard of "building energy efficiency rate ≥ 75%".​

Class A Non-Combustibility for Enhanced Fire Safety​

The fire resistance of building insulation materials is critical to building safety. Rock wool boards, made by melting basalt and diabase at high temperatures, achieve Class A non-combustible performance according to GB 8624-2012. They do not burn or release toxic gases when exposed to fire (only a small amount of water vapor is produced) and have no molten drips at high temperatures. Compared with organic insulation materials (such as polyurethane and EPS, mostly Class B1/B2), rock wool boards effectively slow down fire spread in high-rise buildings, commercial complexes, and other crowded places, buying valuable time for personnel evacuation and fire fighting.​

Moisture Resistance and Anti-Aging for Long-Term Insulation Stability​

High-quality rock wool boards, after hydrophobic treatment, have a volume water absorption rate ≤ 5% (after 24 hours of immersion), so they are not prone to water absorption and moisture damage even in humid environments (such as the plum rain season in southern China or basements), avoiding a sharp decline in insulation performance due to water absorption. Meanwhile, their inorganic composition ensures stable chemical properties, resisting aging and pulverization. In the regular building environment of -20°C to 70°C, their service life can reach more than 25 years, basically matching the service life of the main building structure and reducing the cost of later insulation layer replacement.​

Sound Insulation and Noise Reduction for Improved Indoor Living Experience​

Outdoor traffic noise, industrial noise, and indoor living noise can penetrate building envelopes. The fiber structure of rock wool boards provides excellent barrier effects against both airborne and structure-borne sound: their sound absorption coefficient reaches 0.8-0.9 for high-frequency noise (1000-2000Hz, such as car horns and air conditioning operation). When used for exterior walls or partition walls between households, they can reduce indoor noise by 15-25dB, meeting the requirement of "residential bedroom noise ≤ 40dB" specified in the Code for Sound Insulation Design of Civil Buildings.​

Lightweight and Easy to Construct, Adapting to Diverse Building Forms​

With a bulk density of only 80-150kg/m³, rock wool boards are much lighter than traditional insulation materials (e.g., aerated concrete blocks, approximately 600kg/m³), avoiding increasing the load on building walls and roofs. Additionally, they can be cut into flat panels, curved panels, and other shapes according to building designs, adapting to various construction types such as shear wall, frame, and steel structure. The construction process is simple (using bonding or anchor fixing), improving efficiency by 20%-30% compared with traditional insulation materials.
