WR Wear Ring (Guide Ring) is designed to guide the piston and piston rod inside the hydraulic cylinder, absorb lateral loads, and prevent metal-to-metal contact between sliding components. Manufactured from grey fabric-reinforced phenolic resin, it delivers excellent wear resistance, high compressive strength, and stable dimensional performance under heavy load conditions.

Correct installation is essential for full load-carrying performance, seal protection and cylinder service life. Follow these steps.
Clean the cylinder bore, piston and rod grooves thoroughly — free of dust, chips, debris and oil residue. Deburr and round all sharp edges, and provide a 15–30° lead-in chamfer at the groove entrance. Cover threads, oil ports and drilled holes so the ring is never pushed across sharp openings. Inspect the bore and rod surfaces for scratches or plating defects, then lubricate the groove, ring I.D. and sliding surfaces with hydraulic oil.
Interlocking (stepped) ends: offset the two layers by 180° to form a complete ring — aligning the lap ends opens a leak path to the cylinder wall and causes internal leakage. Butt ends (straight/angled): an angled cut (30°/45°) aligns more stably than a straight cut; open the ring evenly with a purpose-made expanding tool before fitting.
Filled PTFE has a high thermal expansion coefficient and limited flexibility — forcing it cold can crack the ring. For POM, nylon and fabric phenolic, assemble at room temperature without excessive interference force.
Starting at the groove opening, coil the ring progressively along the radial direction while pressing, then smooth out any deformation. Confirm the ring is fully seated with no binding.
Butt ends: flush with the specified clearance gap. Interlocking ends: offset 180° with no through-gap. Check for twisting and overlapping ends.
Guide the ring onto the cylinder or rod with a cone, confirming full seating with no axial rollover. Re-verify radial clearance and axial positioning — the piston must slide freely with no stick-slip. Carry out a hydraulic pressure test to confirm internal leakage and pressure-holding performance.
