Equipment Overview
This testing chamber simulates damage caused by sunlight, rain, and dew exposure. It utilizes fluorescent ultraviolet UV lamps to replicate sunlight effects and condensed moisture to simulate rain and dew. Test materials are exposed to alternating cycles of light and moisture at controlled temperatures. The UV chamber can reproduce outdoor weathering hazards that typically occur over months or years within just days or weeks. Test data helps in material selection and evaluating how formulation changes impact product durability.
Standard Test Conditions
Parameter Specification
Sample Mounting Test samples are fixed on the test rack facing fluorescent lamps. Empty positions are filled with blackboards to maintain chamber closure.
Test Temperatures Illumination: 50°C, 60°C, or 70°C (60°C preferred); Condensation: 50°C; Temperature uniformity: ±2°C
Cycle Options 4 hours illumination / 4 hours condensation or 8 hours illumination / 4 hours condensation
Lamp Replacement Replace fluorescent lamps after 400-450 hours of operation. Remaining lamps compensate for aging effects, ensuring 1600-1800 hours total service life.
Maintenance When replacing lamps, clean and dry the water pan to prevent scale formation.
Key System Components
1. UV Fluorescent Lamps
UV lamps are fragile and packaged separately. Installation requires careful handling:
  • Power off equipment before lifting chamber cover and accessing lamp replacement ports
  • Insert UV fluorescent lamp into right seal, then push into opposite side seal
  • Adjust both ends of lamp sealing caps and connect to power supply
  • Maintain lamp surface cleanliness using alcohol wipes to prevent irradiance contamination
  • Store spare lamps in ventilated, dry, non-corrosive environments
2. Temperature Control System
Consists of black standard thermometer, heater, fan, intelligent program regulator, and other actuators. Uses BTHC temperature control mode to blow hot air into the test chamber, maintaining stable test temperatures.
3. Humidity Supply System
Comprises water tank and humidification system. Through moisture condensation mechanisms, creates condensation on specimen surfaces, simulating rain, high humidity, and dew conditions combined with UV exposure for optimal testing environment.
4. Specimen Carrying Device
Located on the uniform UV lamp radiation surface, constructed from perforated stainless steel plate for consistent exposure.
5. Protection System
Comprehensive safety protections including water shortage, anti-dry burning, over-temperature, short circuit, and overload protection. Located in electric control panel and cabinet. Automatically cuts power and provides audible alarm during fault conditions to ensure equipment and personnel safety.
