Technical Notes
This is a 4-wire heated oxygen sensor manufactured to Honda's original equipment standards. The four wires serve two independent circuits — two for the internal heater and two for the sensor signal and ground.
The built-in heating element quickly brings the ceramic sensing tip up to operating temperature after a cold start, enabling the ECU to enter closed-loop fuel control sooner and reduce cold-start emissions.
The sensor functions as a rear (downstream / post-catalyst) diagnostic probe. It is installed after the catalytic converter and monitors catalyst efficiency by comparing its signal with the upstream sensor.
The sensor uses a zirconia electrode, which is electrically conductive at high temperatures. It generates a voltage based on the oxygen concentration difference between the exhaust gas and outside air.
As a direct-fit component, it features a vehicle-specific electrical connector and pre-terminated wiring, eliminating the need for cutting or splicing during installation.
