ASTM A790 S31803 Super Duplex Stainless Steel SMLS Pipe High Corrosion Resistance
ASTM A790 UNS S31803 is a specification for duplex steel materials. The material is a steel alloy that contains chromium and molybdenum. The addition of these materials makes the pipe stronger and more resistant to corrosion. SA 790 UNS S31803 is one of the super duplex grades, offering higher strength and corrosion resistance. Duplex grades are divided into three groups namely Duplex, Lean and Super Duplex. Super Duplex is used for specific applications that operate at high temperatures. Duplex UNS S31803 pipe also has high strength due to the nature of production. The material can be hot rolled and welded or cold drawn. Cold drawn tubes are seamless and have less absolute roughness, which makes them dimensionally accurate. On the other hand, hot rolled and welded A928 UNS S31803 material is stronger and can be used in welding applications. ASTM A790 UNS S31803 pipe is easy to weld, making it the choice for high pressure applications that require extensive welding when installed.
SA 790 UNS S31803 tubing is also highly resistant to corrosion in seawater and other chloride-rich environments. This chloride ion corrosion stress crack resistance makes it one of the most cost-effective solutions in the long run. Duplex 31803 seamless tubing is used for high sensitivity applications where accurate measurements are required. However, the seamless nature reduces strength compared to duplex UNS S31803 welded pipe. Applications for A790 gr S31803 DSS ERW pipe can be seen in seawater and marine environments, chemical industry, food processing plants, heat generators, automotive parts, boiler parts and other high temperature applications. Electrofusion Welded Duplex S31803 UNS EFW Pipe can also be used interchangeably with less specific application requirements.
