The ULN2003 is a high-voltage, high-current Darlington array composed of seven silicon NPN Darlington pairs. All units share a common emitter, and each unit features an open-collector output. Integrated ballast diodes and appropriate base-emitter resistors are included for improved output efficiency and reduced leakage. Each Darlington pair in the ULN2003 has a series 2.7K base resistor, making it compatible with TTL and CMOS circuits at a 5V operating voltage, allowing direct handling of data that would typically require standard logic buffers. With high operating voltage and current capabilities, it can sink up to 500mA and withstand 50V in the off-state. Outputs can also be paralleled for high load currents, providing a robust solution for multi-interface driver circuits. Applications include driving solenoids, relays, DC lighting, small motors, and LEDs.
