The VCNL4040 is a fully integrated proximity and ambient light sensor with an infrared emitter, I2C interface, and interrupt function. It combines photodiodes, amplifiers, and analog-to-digital converting circuits into a single chip. The device offers high-resolution ambient light sensing, programmable interrupt thresholds for both ALS and PS, intelligent cancellation for proximity sensing, and smart persistence for accelerated response times. Its patented FiltronTM technology ensures spectral sensitivity close to human eye response and effective background light cancellation. The VCNL4040 provides excellent temperature compensation and is easily configurable via an I2C interface. It operates within a voltage range of 2.5 V to 3.6 V and is available in a lead-free 8-pin molding package.
