For most slaughterhouse and meat processing applications, the recommended configuration is a three-phase tricanter centrifuge because the feed usually contains oil/fat, water, and solid residue at the same time.

1. Oily wastewater or DAF scum enters the rotating bowl through the feed pipe.
2. Under centrifugal force, heavier solids move outward and form a sediment layer.
3. The screw conveyor continuously pushes the separated solids toward the discharge end.
4. The heavy liquid phase, mainly water, is discharged through the water outlet.
5. The light liquid phase, mainly recovered animal fat, is discharged separately through the oil outlet.

Actual results depend on oil content, emulsion level, heating temperature, solids content, and feed stability. Pilot testing is recommended when scum composition changes frequently.

Why use a three-phase tricanter for slaughterhouse oily wastewater?

Because the feed usually contains animal fat, water, and solid residue. A three-phase tricanter can separate all three phases continuously.

Is heating required?

Usually yes. Heating to around 50–80°C helps reduce fat viscosity and improves oil-water-solid separation.
