Brazing aluminum sheet is a composite material in which a low melting aluminum silicon alloy such as 4343 or 4045 is metallurgically bonded onto one or both surfaces of a higher melting core alloy such as 3003. During the brazing process the assembly is heated to roughly six hundred degrees Celsius, the clad layer melts and flows into the joints by capillary action, and upon cooling it forms a strong, leak tight bond without any separate filler metal or flux residue when vacuum or controlled atmosphere brazing is used. This makes the sheet the fundamental raw material for radiators, condensers, evaporators, oil coolers, charge air coolers and, increasingly, the cooling plates used in electric vehicle battery packs.
The ratio between clad and core thickness, usually five to fifteen percent per side, is controlled during the cladding rolling process because it determines how much filler is available to form the fillet at every tube to fin joint. Our fin stock is supplied in H14 or H24 temper that still allows the fine corrugation of fins on high speed fin machines, while the core provides strength and corrosion potential control after brazing. Coils are degreased and delivered dry so they enter your brazing furnace without pre-cleaning, and each coil is edge trimmed to a width tolerance that keeps the fin line running without tool damage.

Brazing aluminum sheet is consumed by manufacturers of automotive radiators, heater cores, air conditioning condensers and evaporators, transmission oil coolers, engine oil coolers, charge air coolers and power electronics coolers. The fastest growing application is the liquid cooling plate for electric vehicle battery packs, where flat tubes and fins made from this clad stock keep cells inside their safe temperature window during fast charging. Commercial vehicle intercoolers, agricultural and construction machine radiators and stationary energy storage cooling systems use the same material family, and HVAC condenser makers buy the sheet in large coils for continuous fin lines.
Packaging & Quality AssuranceBrazing sheet coils are wound on steel cores, protected with edge guards, sealed in moisture barrier packaging with desiccant and packed for container shipment. Sheets are interleaved with neutral paper and palletized. Laboratory release testing includes clad ratio measurement by metallographic examination, chemical analysis of clad and core, tensile testing and brazing trials on sample coupons to verify joint quality. We can supply a Brazing Quality Certificate with each order and support your furnace trials with technical advice on temperature profile and atmosphere dew point.
