Product Overview
The Masoneilan SVI1000 is a loop-powered digital valve positioner that uses HART communication. It is designed for single-acting pneumatic control valves. A non-contact magnetic feedback system removes mechanical linkages, eliminating wear. The unit draws its power from the 4-20mA loop, so no separate supply is needed.
A local push-button interface with LED indicators follows a one-button-one-function layout. Most valves can be configured and calibrated in under five minutes. HART Revision 5 or 7 can be selected in the field. Two built-in solid-state switches are available for position indication. The universal mounting design fits both linear and rotary actuators.

Application Industry
The Masoneilan SVI1000 is used in power generation, chemical processing, refining, petrochemicals, and oil and gas. Typical applications include steam turbine generators, condensers, cooling towers, heat recovery steam generators, distillation, hydroprocessing, cracking, blending, pipeline integrity, and gas compression. Its simple setup and reliable magnetic feedback make it ideal for routine throttling control on single-acting pneumatic valves.
Common Problems
Positioner does not respond to input signal: Verify supply pressure is within 20-100 psi and pneumatic connections are secure. Check that the device mode is set to Normal.
Valve responds slowly or not at all: Confirm the air supply setpoint is greater than the spring final value plus 10 psig. For large-volume actuators, verify supply droop during filling is less than 15%.
Position error alert: Perform a valve signature using the SVI1000 Basic DTM. Check for tight packing, stem buildup, or actuator friction. Perform Autotune or Manual tuning.
Marginal power (all LEDs off): Input current is below 3.85 mA. Increase loop current to 4 mA for calibration and diagnostics.
Calibration failed: Input sensor calibration was outside acceptable range. Using precision measuring equipment, perform calibration according to boundary limits.
Hardware failure (SelfCheckError): Remove power for two minutes and restart. Clear the alarm via ValVue or HART Host. If failure persists, replace the electronics module.
