Product Overview
The SVI1000 is a HART communicating, 4-20mA digital valve positioner designed for single-acting pneumatic control valves. It uses mature non-contact magnetic feedback sensing technology, eliminating mechanical linkage and the wear that comes with it. The positioner is loop-powered — no external power supply is required.
Setup is handled through a local push-button interface with LED indicators, following a one-button-one-function design. Most control valves can be configured and calibrated in under five minutes. The unit supports HART Revision 5 or Revision 7, selectable in the field. Two built-in solid-state switches are available for position indication. The universal mounting design accommodates both linear and rotary valve applications.

Application Industry
The SVI1000 is used in power generation, chemical processing, refining, petrochemicals, and oil and gas applications. Key applications include steam turbine generators, condensers, cooling towers, heat recovery steam generators, distillation, hydroprocessing, cracking, blending, pipeline integrity, and gas compression. Its simple setup and reliable magnetic feedback make it well-suited for routine throttling control on single-acting pneumatic valves.
Common Problems
Positioner does not respond to input signal: Verify supply pressure is within 20-100 psi and pneumatic connections are secure. Check that the device mode is set to Normal.
Valve responds slowly or not at all: Confirm the air supply setpoint is greater than the spring final value plus 10 psig. For large-volume actuators, verify supply droop during filling is less than 15%.
Position error alert: Perform a valve signature using the SVI1000 Basic DTM. Check for tight packing, stem buildup, or actuator friction. Perform Autotune or Manual tuning.
Marginal power (all LEDs off): Input current is below 3.85 mA. Increase loop current to 4 mA for calibration and diagnostics.
Calibration failed: Input sensor calibration was outside acceptable range. Using precision measuring equipment, perform calibration according to boundary limits.
Hardware failure (SelfCheckError): Remove power for two minutes and restart. Clear the alarm via ValVue or HART Host. If failure persists, replace the electronics module.

The SVI1000 is a basic digital positioner. For applications requiring advanced valve diagnostics, higher flow capacity, or SIL-rated safety functions, the SVI II AP or SVI3 series are the next-tier options from the same product line.
