The Type 3730 electro-pneumatic positioner series is a range of positioners suitable for various general industrial applications. SAMSON has designed this series to include multiple models that can meet any end user or process requirements.
The basic control positioners include the 3730-0 and 3730-1 versions. Starting from the 3730-2, the positioner comes with full function parameterization, a process essential for advanced diagnostics.
With the 3730-2 comes the inclusion of advanced diagnostics and full function parameterization. The model versions above the 3730-2 incorporate communications protocols such as HART (3730-3), Profibus (3730-4), and Foundation Fieldbus (3730-5) for better connectivity and control.
The full function parameterization of these positioners enables the characterization of various settings such as the reference variable, travel range, characteristic, and performance characteristics like PID control coefficients.
The advanced diagnostics of the positioner series enable essential functions like status message logging, data logging, and histograms for travel setpoint deviation and cycle counter. The SAMSON positioner series also has trend analysis functions like end position trending, static characteristic testing, partial stroke testing, and full stroke testing.

The positioner can be mounted in any desired position but not suspended. It has a simple one-knob, menu-driven operation that makes it easy to use. The easy-to-read display in any mounting position thanks to rotatable reading direction makes it ideal for use in different positions.
The electropneumatic positioner with HART® communication has variable automatic start-up thanks to four different initialization modes. Additionally, it comes with a preset parameter saving feature that ensures only values deviating from the standard need to be adjusted.
The positioner is equipped with a calibrated travel sensor without gears that are susceptible to wear. It also has a sub (substitution) initialization mode that allows the positioner to be started up in case of an emergency while the plant is running without having to change the valve position.
