Oligopeptide-68 is a skin-whitening peptide raw material, a twelve-amino acid-rich oligopeptide commonly used for skin whitening, brightening, and acne treatment. It works by inhibiting melanocyte-stimulating hormone (MSH), reducing melanin production, and preventing excessive melanin formation. Its unique mechanism lies in Oligopeptide-68 mimicking the binding of TGF-β to receptors on the cell surface, utilizing the suppression of intramolecular channels of MITF to reduce induced and hereditary pigmentation, thus achieving a skin-whitening and brightening effect. It reduces the number of molecules related to melanin production, suppressing tyrosinase activity and melanin synthesis.
Inhibition of melanocyte-stimulating hormone (MSH): Oligopeptide-68 inhibits the activity of MSH, thereby reducing melanin production and preventing excessive melanin production.
Mimetic TGF-β receptor binding: Oligopeptide-68 mimics the binding of transforming growth factor β (TGF-β) to receptors on the cell surface, inhibiting the intramolecular channel of MITF (micro-eye-associated transcription factor) through this pathway, thus reducing induced and hereditary pigmentation and achieving skin whitening and brightening effects.
Reduction of melanin formation-related molecules: Oligopeptide-68 reduces the number of molecules related to melanin formation, such as MITF, TRP-1, TRP-2, and tyrosinase, thereby inhibiting tyrosinase activity and melanin synthesis.
Highly effective: At the same concentration, Oligopeptide-68 exhibits stronger activity than other traditional whitening ingredients (such as vitamin C and arbutin).
Due to its significant whitening effect, oligopeptide-68 is widely used in cosmetics such as brightening creams, brightening foundations, pressed powders, and spot-removing creams (such as for sun spots and freckles).
