11-W-4 carbon steel light duty bar serrated steel grating is a close-mesh welded panel featuring bearing bars at 11/16 in. (17.5 mm) on center and cross bars at 4 in. (100 mm) on center. The top edge of every bearing bar includes notches for superior slip resistance, making it ideal for walkways that are wet, oily, or inclined, and where plain carbon steel is preferred over stainless.
The serration enhances the walking surface without altering the mesh. You maintain the 11/16 in. opening (heel-safe, ADA-friendly, no dropped small parts) while adding grip precisely where the foot makes contact.

Carbon steel is ideal for most plant walkways: it's weldable, forge-welds cleanly at every cross bar, and hot-dip zinc coating per ASTM A123 / ISO 1461 provides 20-50+ years of service in C2-C4 atmospheres. Stainless steel is recommended for environments with chlorides, strong acids, or daily chemical washdown.
Serrations are punched or cut into the top edge of bearing bars before welding, making the teeth an integral part of the bar rather than an applied strip that could peel off. Since the teeth are formed from the same steel, they withstand hot-dip galvanizing and heavy foot traffic without delaminating, ensuring serrated grating outlasts grit-coated or stick-on anti-slip tape on busy walkways.

Under heavy steel-wheeled traffic, teeth may eventually wear smooth. For foot traffic with occasional trolleys, the teeth typically outlast the panel itself.
