Product Overview
This marine electric vertical anchor capstan is a compact anchoring deck machine combining a vertical chain gypsy (cable lifter) with a warping head. The chain gypsy is used for paying out and heaving in the anchor chain, while the warping head provides a separate working surface for handling mooring ropes. The vertical-shaft arrangement is well suited to vessels where deck footprint and rope-handling access are important, with the final motor, gearbox, foundation and control arrangement engineered to the vessel layout.
For selection, the key inputs are not motor power alone. Chain diameter and grade, anchor mass, maximum anchorage depth, required continuous working pull, chain hoisting speed, chain-stopper arrangement, power supply and deck foundation all affect the final configuration. ISO 4568:2021 includes anchor capstans as a defined windlass type for sea-going vessels; project-specific classification rules and flag requirements remain applicable.

Q1: What is the difference between this anchor capstan and a normal mooring capstan?
A1: This unit includes a chain gypsy / cable lifter for anchor-chain handling and a warping head for rope handling. A normal mooring capstan without a chain gypsy is intended only for mooring rope work and should not be specified as an anchor windlass.
Q2: Why do some chain diameters appear twice with different working loads in the supplied table?
A2: Anchor-windlass continuous duty pull depends on chain diameter and chain grade. The supplied data contain two different load groups for 22–34 mm chain. The exact grade designation should be confirmed from the original chain specification before final publication or quotation.
Q3: What information is required to select the correct electric vertical anchor capstan?
