The ISO 13797 cruciform bollard is a welded ship mooring and towing fitting suitable for installation on sea-going vessels where mooring ropes or towing lines need to be turned, held, and arranged around a strong deck-mounted bollard structure. The cruciform shape uses a main post and a cross pipe / cross member to improve rope holding and line arrangement compared with a simple single post, while the deck foundation and local reinforcement remain critical to the actual onboard load path.

Selection & Inquiry Guide
Step 1: Confirm ISO 13797 / GB/T 36665 cruciform bollard and select DN150 / DN200 / DN250 / DN300 / DN350 / DN400 according to vessel drawing and mooring / towing plan.
Step 2: Confirm Type A pipe-welded construction or Type B plate-fabricated construction. Type A and Type B have different outside diameters, wall thicknesses, welding leg values, and calculated weights.
Step 3: Confirm rope load basis, intended mooring or towing duty, rope lead angle, number of rope turns, and required SWL marking. Do not select only by nominal size without checking the vessel load path.
Step 4: Confirm deck foundation, under-deck carlings / stiffeners, welding details, deck plate thickness, installation clearance, and relation with chocks, fairleads, winches, towing hooks, or other fittings.
Step 5: Confirm material grade, pipe / plate supply standard, stainless steel option if required, surface treatment, coating system, SWL marking method, and any low-temperature or special service requirement.
Step 6: Confirm certificate scope before quotation: maker certificate, material certificate, welding / NDT records, class certificate, witness inspection, or other project-specific approval.
Step 7: Provide quantity, vessel type, installation drawing, delivery destination, required delivery time, and reference photos if replacement or repair work is involved.

Q1: What is the difference between Type A and Type B cruciform bollards?
A1: According to ISO 13797 type classification, Type A is manufactured by steel pipes and Type B is manufactured by steel plates. The two types have different dimensional values, wall thicknesses, welding leg lengths, and calculated weights, so the correct type should follow the vessel drawing.
Q2: Can the table SWL be used directly for the vessel without checking the deck structure?
A2: No. The table SWL is the maximum applicable rope tension reference for the fitting. Actual onboard SWL should be checked with the under-deck reinforcement, deck welds, rope lead direction, towing / mooring plan, and class approval requirement.
