The marine spurling pipe, also known as a chain pipe, is an anchor-chain conduit arranged between the anchor windlass chain wheel and the chain locker. For welded configurations, the guide bend is fabricated from steel plate, while the bell mouth and chafing edges can be formed with steel plate and half-round steel according to the approved drawing.
The pipe is normally arranged vertically or at a suitable inclination according to the windlass chain lead and chain-locker position. CB 3133-1983 distinguishes Type A with a cast chain guide mouth and Type B with a welded guide section. Upper and lower chain-contact surfaces are rounded or flared to reduce abnormal bending, local wear, and chain jamming. For newbuilding projects, final dimensions, materials, plate thicknesses, closure arrangement, watertight boundary, drainage, welding, and inspection should follow current project requirements and approved vessel drawings.

Selection & Inquiry Guide
Step 1: Confirm whether the required product is a Type A spurling pipe with a cast steel chain guide mouth, a Type B welded configuration, or a customized project design.
