Wire Mesh Decking
Wire mesh decking is a type of steel deck panel designed to be placed over the beams of pallet racks or shelving. It consists of welded wire mesh supported by steel channels. Galvanized wire decking refers to similar panels but with a zinc coating (galvanization) to enhance corrosion resistance, durability, and performance in harsher environments.
Fire Safety / Sprinkler Compliance: Open mesh structure allows overhead sprinkler systems to work effectively and facilitates water penetration in case of fire.
Improved Airflow & Visibility: Mesh allows light and air to pass through, reducing moisture buildup, enabling better inspection of items, and reducing risk of mold or mildew.
Enhanced Durability: Steel mesh is not subject to warping, rotting or splintering as wood decks are. When galvanized, more resistant to rust, scratches and harsh environments.
Safety / Reduced Item Fall-through: Smaller grid openings reduce risk of items slipping through deck; edges (waterfalls) prevent boxes from falling off front/rear.
Cost Effectiveness Over Lifecycle: Though initial cost may be higher than basic wood panels, wire mesh decking with galvanized finish typically lasts much longer, has lower maintenance, and fewer replacements.
Cleanliness and Hygiene: Because mesh allows easy washing / air drying, and does not absorb moisture, it is good for environments where hygiene is important (food, cold storage)
