Working Principle

The working principle of a hydraulic shock absorber is as follows:

This resistance converts the kinetic energy from the suspension movement into heat energy, which is then dissipated, effectively reducing the oscillations and stabilizing the vehicle.

3. Rebound Stroke: After the compression stroke, the suspension begins to extend, and the piston moves upward. The hydraulic fluid is forced through different valves in the opposite direction. Similar to the compression stroke, the fluid flow is restricted, generating resistance that helps to control the rebound movement of the suspension. This ensures that the vehicle does not bounce excessively and maintains a smooth ride.

4. Energy Dissipation : The hydraulic fluid, when forced through the valves, generates heat due to the resistance. This heat is absorbed by the fluid and the shock absorber components, and it eventually dissipates into the surrounding environment. The conversion of kinetic energy into heat energy is what allows the shock absorber to dampen the vibrations and oscillations effectively.
